History

Gardline have been in business for nearly half a century. As we approach our 50th anniversary, why not take a look back at some of our biggest milestones over the last 50 years. 

1969

Gardline Shipping Limited was incorporated with the original office established in Whapload Road, Lowestoft.

1970

The MV Observer, MV Researcher and the Gardline Endurer are purchased.

1973

Gardline purchased the MV Gardline Locater and the Isis Corer.

1976

Gardline's Houston office was established.

1977

Gardline offices move to a larger premises at Oilmar House in Admiralty Road, combining offices and workshops. Also this year, Gardline's Survey Division was set up and the company's first digital seismic system was installed on the MV Tracker.

1981

Endeavour House was purchased by Gardline as its new base in Admiralty Road, requiring a short move from Oilmar House. Also this year, Gardline purchased the MV Resolution. 

1982

Gardline purchased the first MV Surveyor (in Singapore).

1984

Gardline purchased the MV Sea Profiler.

1985

Gardline purchased the MV Sea Searcher.

1986

The oil price reduced to $7 a barrel yet Gardline continued to trade; remaining strong together in tough times.

1990

Mariner House was purchased by Gardline as it needed more space on Admiralty Road. Also in that year, Gardline purchased the Sea Trident.

1994

Richard's Dry Dock and Engineering Ltd was incorporated and then used to purchase the ship yard and businesses in Great Yarmouth. It was later added to the Gardline Group in 2007.

1995

Gardline purchased the MV Sea Explorer.

2001

Prospect House on Hewett Road was purchased and became the home of the Data Presentation services of Gardline.

2002

Gardline companies were incorporated, forming Gardline Marine Sciences Ltd.

2005

The Tranship Group was formed by setting up a holding company in the Netherlands and purchasing CSS and BES. Also in that year, Titan Environmental Surveys was purchased.

2007

Marine Ecological Surveys Limited joined the group.

2008

Trinity Quay was purchased by Richard's Dry Dock to provide a potential home for new products and services.

2009

Alpine Ocean Seismic Survey and Alicat Workboats were added to the group.

2012

South Boats IOW Ltd were added to the group. 

2013

Gardline Marine Sciences do Brasil S.A was formed.

2015

Gardline continues to invest in the group and purchase a new Emergency Towage Vessel (ETV).

2016

A dedicated geotechnical drilling vessel, the Ocean Vantage, goes into operation in order to continue the expansion of Gardline's service range.
