Gardline Ltd currently has an opportunity for an Environmental Technician to join the team. The key objectives of the role are to develop, maintain, repair, assemble and test equipment for use in the field in preparation to acquire marine environmental data.

In addition the successful candidate will be involved in the development of technical documents including training manuals and standard operating procedures for offshore equipment deployment and the delivery of relevant training to Field Environmental Scientists. You will also be required to interpret technical drawings, manufacture, assemble and fit components, prepare and test equipment for despatch and mobilisation.

 

The successful candidate will have a formal qualification in electrical engineering. You will also be a proficient user of MS office in particular Word and Excel. It is desirable but not essential that you have at least one years experience in maintaining and operating underwater photography and imagery or experience in the offshore industry.

 

You will need to communicate with confidence to different levels in the organisation and must demonstrate the ability to translate technical information to non technical teams. The ability to challenge the status quo and develop new ways of working will be fundamental for the successful candidate.

 

You will become part of a team that will offer out of hours support to field staff and you must be prepared to travel globally for vessel mobilisation and demobilisation. Working outside of core business hours will be essential during busy periods.

 

This position will also include up to 60 days offshore per year where offshore allowances will be applicable. The successful candidate will need to pass a medical and an offshore survival course.
