Gardline Environmental Limited (GEL) is a member of the Gardline Marine Sciences Limited Group of Companies and is a successful Environmental contractor conducting major integrated offshore projects on a worldwide basis and inshore projects for major clients in the UK and overseas. We are currently looking for Environmental Report Writers to join the busy and dynamic Environmental Scientific team. As a Report Writer you will responsible for the analysis, interpretation and presentation of marine environmental data in reports to our clients. You will be one of the team responsible for the collation and interpretation of data relating to marine fieldwork carried out for environmental habitat assessments, baselines and monitoring projects.

You will work closely with Project Managers and Field Environmental Scientists to ensure the production and delivery of quality, accurate reports, to agreed client specifications, often within tight timescales. Data will include chemical (sediment and water hydrocarbons, metals), physical (particle size analysis, water profiling) and biological (macrofaunal). As a report writer, you will routinely conduct analysis of seabed imagery and species / habitat identification and assessment and also assist with the processing of samples for particle size analysis in GEL's in-house laboratory.

The ideal candidate must be confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. It would also be beneficial if you have experience of using and understanding Adobe Acrobat, Surfer, ArcGIS and Primer, or other statistical software.

There will also be the opportunity to participate in occasional field surveys, up to 60 days offshore per annum, carrying out marine environmental surveys. Opportunities for training in benthic taxonomy may also be available.

Ideally you will be of degree calibre or equivalent, and demonstrate a sound knowledge of the marine environment with both a scientific and commercial awareness. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to gain and process complex information, present that information clearly and concisely and think logically, critically and decisively.
