Gardline Environmental Ltd conducts the first Pro-PAM NZ training course after becoming accredited by Department of Conservation (DOC), New Zealand

Gardline Environmental Ltd has added another approved and high quality training course, Pro-PAM NZ, to their training portfolio.

Gardline Environmental Ltd’s (GEL) Passive Acoustic Monitoring training course for New Zealand waters, Pro-PAM NZ, has been approved by New Zealand’s Department of Conservation (DOC) in January 2015 and it has already conducted the first course.

The first group of trainees consisted of two candidates whom already have experience working in New Zealand waters. These lucky few were subject to intensive distance learning on the theory behind passive acoustic monitoring as well as the New Zealand requirements followed by a 3-day practical component covering all aspects of PAM software, hardware, deployment, troubleshooting and detections. In order to successfully pass the course, candidates were required to pass rigorous practical and written exams and demonstrate a high level of practical competency. The newly trained PAM Operators already have years of experience of acoustic monitoring for mitigation purposes around the world which makes them ‘qualified’ observers under the standards of the Code.

GEL is pleased to announce that one of the trainees is the first ever Qualified PAM Operator under the Code!

GEL is now able to answer the demands of the industry for highly experienced and DOC accredited PAM Operators. Gardline will be putting all its PAM Operators through this course thereby contributing much needed resources to a presently very limited pool of accredited Operators for New Zealand waters.
